Help me flash a ROM please

So i know for a fact that we can now root the phone. I rooted my Marquee, but When i try to flash a new Rom that someone else has done. When I hold down Power button and volume down i go into menu. My options are
1.reboot phone now
2. apply update from SD Card
3. Factory Data Reset
4. Clear Cache partitions

When i put the rom on my Sd card and click update the rom it says

failed to open /sdcard/update.zip
manual select menu
E:Cant update using GingerSteem1.0.zip
Install from sdcard complete

Please help me am i doing something wrong? or do i need to change the file name to update.zip?

You need to have a custom recovery. I'm not good with LG phones so search how to get clockwork mod on ure Marquee and then you can flash the rom

Be careful! AFAIK, there is no publicly available custom recovery that works on the Marquee. There is one floating around this forum, but it isn't fully functional. Using it to flash a ROM may result in bricking your phone!

Oh Thanks. I know that someone just figured out that to root the phone you can use the same as an LG esteem so i guess i need to look through the differences and see if something will work!

This phone has been out on Sprint for quite awhile. In fact the ability to root this phone through the LG Esteem method has been known since early October (thx Hoovhartid) Although your drive to find & create a custom ROM is promising, please keep in mind that many of us (especially tcaudill01, dishe & many others) have already tried for many months (& in many different forums) numerous things already w/ this phone & unfortunately have come up unsuccessful. I am seeing more & more people in these forums but I am also seeing a lot of people not taking the time to read what has already been attempted & they have been bricking their phones.

Please do yourself a favor...take some time & read through as many threads in this forum as possible. Especially posts by dishe, tcaudill01, hoovhartid, & myself (nosajsam). It may take a while but will also save you from potentially bricking your phone but more importantly from wasting your time.

Hopefully we will find a solution soon!

I found out how to do it how would I would leave rom to a public: )
