Help me remove all the unneeded crap off my phone

hi im looking into removing all the factory apps off my phone and ive been told that the best way to do this is to "root" my phone.

now im a little savvy in the tech area but not up to speed on all of this. can someone help me out

hopefully theres a way to do all this in a "dummy" way

Im curious about this too as the "bloatware" just uaes up my sd storage. More than I care to count, "low on space" appears. Im finding though, even after uninstalling some apps, there are still remnants the phone still reads. This is also after factory restore settings, and wiping the SD card after backup.
 
what hboot do you have? To find this out you power down and pull batt. Then put batt back in and hold the down volume button and he power button.

Doesn't matter the HBoot, just need to get rooted, and the easiest ways to do that for the EVO 4G is to unlock the bootloader, flash a recovery, then flash SuperUser. That's what I did to the 3 I modded. 2 CyanogenMod 7 and one 1 Phandroid Android.
