Hey kids,
I'm attempting to access my SD card and every time i connect my phone and choose disk drive to my comp a little dialog box pops up saying Android device and then my windows(XP) says it found new hardware and then wants me to insert a disc to set it up. When I go to My Computer it doesn't recognize anything as a "disc drive" like the little booklet says. I had this same problem with my pre every once in a while. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

not sure if it'll help , but try setting the default connection type to Disk Drive so it doesnt have to ask. settings>connect to pc

I have window's xp and it doesn't seem to want to do more than charge the phone. Luckily I have a card reader to access the card but that is inconvenient. Tried all the suggestions above.

Having the same problem. When I go to "Settings-> Connect to my pc" I can choose "Disk drive" but once I plug the usb cable in I never get a prompt. The phone sees a power source and starts charging, but even the default connection type says "Disk Drive" with "Ask me" checked.

The computer does not see the phone. The phone does not prompt me as to what to do when plugging into a usb.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Here is what I do, change the setting to ASK ME then restart your Evo. When your Evo restarts, it should ask you every time you connect it via USB & if you want to change it on the fly, you can do so via the Notification Bar at the top.

I had the same issue and although it charged with my cable it would reconnize it as a hard drive. I tried another USB cable as well and that resolved my issue too. :p

you guys running Windows XP make sure you are on Service Pack 3 at least. Maybe that will help.

I have tried multiple cables, restarting my phone and factory reset and my computer still does not recognize the phone. Any ideas?
