Help my partner not be mad at me - stopping an automatic system update

[AC Question]

Hello everyone -

I was borrowing my partner's Samsung Galaxy III this morning, and it prompted an automatic update for Android. I deferred it, but I accidentally clicked "Install Automatically" instead of "Don't Install Automatically."

He most definitely does NOT want the update.

It's set to install at 1 AM. Anyway I can interrupt the auto-install?

Welcome to the forums.
The only way I can think of to stop the OTA is to root the device. Even then, it may not stop it.

You could have dropped his phone and busted it. Then you'd be saying "if only I'd kept a better hold of it and just accidentally triggered an update or something". Well, that's what you've got. Point this out to him.
