I play sirrius through the radio (not from the app on my phone) in my yukon. I just got the S25 Ultra and never had any problems doing this with the s21. Now, when a notification comes in or I turn on my phone, the radio changes to playing music through my bluetooth connection.

My yukon is a 2015. I do not have android auto but have turned all of those settings off on my phone trying to figure this problem out.

Does anyone know what other settings might be making bluetooth takeover when notifications come in or when I turn my phone on?

Welcome to Android Central forums.

As always just a few questions before trying to offer advice.

Do you use the BT connection between your head unit and your device to play media?

What app is auto starting after the notification? Is it the same app every time that tries to play?

Have you tried changing any other settings for this?

Anyway, if you're not using your phone for media content try changing the BT connection from media and calls to only calls. You may have to test this but I believe in a calls only configuration you will still get notifications but it should prevent music or other media from auto starting in the background.

If you need/want media to be available without having to sort through menus to enable it each time and there is only one app that auto starts to play media after a notification you could try putting that app to sleep. This has a double edge to it however. While it should prevent the audio from starting after a simple notification because apps that have been put to sleep do not play in the background or when not opened as the top app. Do you see where the other edge comes in yet? This would also mean that that in order to play audio with this app the phone would have to be open with the app open on screen when you would want to play audio. So you would not be able to start audio and then put the screen to sleep while listening if you tried this.

A quick Google also found this suggestion.

To stop Samsung audio from automatically playing after notifications when connected to car audio, you can disable the "Allow external devices to start playback" setting within the Samsung Music app or check for and disable any related Bixby routines. [1, 2, 3]
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Samsung Music App Settings: [1, 3]
Open the Samsung Music app.

Tap the three dots (more options) in the top right corner.

Select "Settings".

Find and toggle off "Allow external devices to start playback". [1, 3]

2. Bixby Routines: [2]
Open the Bixby Routines app.

Check for any routines that trigger media playback when connecting to Bluetooth.

Disable or delete any such routines. [1, 2]

3. Other Potential Issues: [4, 5]
Check for separate app sound settings:
Some Samsung devices allow you to direct specific app sounds to Bluetooth devices, which could be causing the issue. [4, 5]
Ensure the correct audio source is selected in your car's Bluetooth settings:
Some car systems may default to a specific audio source, so make sure it's set to the correct media source. [6]
Restart your phone:
In some cases, a simple restart can resolve the issue. [7]
Check the volume settings for notifications and ringtones [8]

Yes, I use the bluetooth for music from my phone as well as sirrius through my car.

No apps are automatically starting on my phone. When a notification comes in on my phone drom emails or texts, if I send a text, if I'm scrolling facebook (while my husband drives) and a video starts playing, my car switches over to the bluetooth connection.

I have gone through and changed so many settings thinking it will finally fix it with no success. I did try to turn off the allow external devices to start playback. I have no bixby routines, I have turned android auto off and toggled every setting in android auto.

I just did a reboot on my phone. I've unpaired it from my car and then reconnected it. Nothing has changed.

Have you considered getting the Sirius app and converting over to run everything from the phone? Especially with Sirius being a subscription service, why not have it where you spend way more time than in your vehicle. IDK, something to think about.

Let us know if any of the suggestions help.
