Help!!! need to unroot nook tablet

I tried rooting my tablet and I thought it worked but I accidentally hit home instead of honeycomb and it took me to normal nook screen. In the rooting process it asked if I'd like to make th n button home and install menu and back button on taskbar and I said yes. The back button worked and wut I assume was menu button did not. The nook button does nothin but take me to home screen. So I ended up doing factory restore by pressing power and n button til the screen comes up asking if I want do restore. After that was done and I turned back on the taskbar is same as after rooting and n button still doing same thing. Therefore I am unable to get on the web or access my settings. I am stuck and don't know what to do! Other than that I can still access b&n and music, videos, and apps. Someone please help!

OK, I think I may have some info for you.

I unroot using the one click unroot app and then perform a factory restore. Of course, you can't do that because you've already restored and now can't run the app.

There is another method that I've seen mentioned referred to as the 8-boot method. Anyway, when performed correctly, it reimages your Nook. Then you perfrom the factory restore. If I understand correctly, I think this process will remove all traces of your rooting and leave you in a brand new, just-out-of-the-box state.

It sounds pretty cumbersome having to reboot 8 times and all but it sounds like it's worth a shot and you can't be any worse off than you are now. I'll attach a link below with the details. It says it's for the Nook Color but I believe the procedure is the same for the Nook Tablet.

Give it a try and let me know if this helps you. I'm sorry if you felt I'd abandoned you. You were just getting into territory I hadn't experienced yet and the wife and I had an extremely busy weekend and couldn't get back with you until now.

I actually found a website that has a link you download and put on an sdcard and run on your nook that unroots it. I was able to di it without a problem. I then decided to give rooting one more try and it was successful! My nook tablet is now rooted and I originally put honeycomb launcher on it but downloaded go launcher after rooting. I have found it works much better and I like it better.
Sorry for posting so much this weekend, I had a moment of freaking out and feeling like I messed up big time. After some diligent researching I finally figured it out! Thanks for all ur help!

No problems. I'm just glad you were able to get it all worked out. If you're like me, you learned a whole lot in the process. I've been a techie for over thirty years but mobile devices, Android & rooting were all new to me too until about a month ago.

Thanks! I definitely learned a lot and I actually think the process is pretty easy now. Im enjoying sitting here watching tv and looking for a case for my NT on my NT

Here is the website I found the directions on. It gives you step by step directions for returning to 1.4.0 software but it also works to unroot the nook. I followed all the steps and it worked perfectly. My boyfriend happened to have a 2GB memory card he wasn't using so I put the file on that memory card and ran it and plan on leaving it on that memory card in case I ever need to or decide to unroot it. I put the 8GB card that I purchased for my nook in after I rooted.
