Help needed to Root Fascinate w Froyo

So is gingerbread a viable option at this point or can I get back to being unrooted without a factory reset?

the same thing happened to me. i followed all instructions, and when finished, everything is fine except for a total lack of mobile data network. am just as lost of my fellow noobs..

Sounds odd that all of you are having this issue...must be the ADB root method that is causing the issue. Go to post #9 of that same thread:

And return to stock. When you are back to stock just go to this post and flash a custom rom. Believe me it is a whole lot easier and you don't have to try and get rid of unwanted apps:

This thread has everything you will need:

Start with using ODIN and get 3.0 CWM in the addons, patches and some eye candy post.

Then look over the ROMS. The ED01 ComRom is a very stable Rom and a great starter ROM. I wouldn't start with any of the gingerbbread 2.3 roms until you are comfortable with flashing and more importantly recovering from oops!

You can download a Rom from your phone to your SD card or while you are hooked up to your computer you can flash that way too.....just remember where you put it on your SD card (folder).

Once you have ODINd CWM3 do not let the phone boot. You want to use the three finger salute to get into recovery. Once there you can scrolll using your volume key to install from SD card. Hit power button. There you will see where you downloaded the Rom. Highlight it and hit power button. It will give you 10 "no" selections and 1 "yes" ....this is a great feature so you get a second chance to verify its the function you want. highlight "yes" and hit power button. The Rom is a one step Rom, Kernal and Root. Give it some time to boot......longer than normal........and then enjoy.

The imporotant thing is to read read read.

I fixed my phone by backing up my apps and data with Titanium Backup, restoring my phone to stock, loading the Geewiz 1.1 ROM, and restoring my apps and data with Titanium Backup. So far, the phone seems to be working better than ever. Hopefully, all the glitches I had won't come back.

Anybody know how to root this without installing a custom rom and without breaking mobile data? I'm selling my phone but the person buying it requested stock ED05 with root. Thanks.

I think I saw a ROM that is exactly that. Or you can get a ROM that is stock, rooted, and has the bloatware removed. Based on my experience, that might be the easiest way to do it.

Simple question. I rooted my phone using the instructions and the beginning of this thread. I lost all data connectivity. I restored it back to stock. Can I root this phone with the stock ED05?

I have been away from the forums for a little while, but I'll see what I can find out. Last time I was around rooting the ED05 build did not wipe out data connectivity. If I don't find any answers from digging through forums, I'll set my test fascinate back to stock ED05 and try rooting to see what happens. Give me a few days.

I found to have the same problem too. can make calls and text people, but no data or connectivity. and it hangs when trying to connect to wifi

Hello Landshark, Have you checked into this issue using your test Fascinate. I'm having the same issue and no luck finding a solution

Hi, Jmac9. I'm Evan. Thanks for taking notice of this data issue. Can you clarify your post a bit for me?

When you say "and return to stock" what do you mean? Unroot and go back to DL09 and go through the whole process to return to ED01?

For some of us that is pretty traumatic, and killahamsammich's post in #2 was the only current help we could find to get rooted after updating to Official Froyo. If his method leaves us without data, we probably won't be able to root again.

Wait a second . . . RyanD8, how'd you get Titanium Backup on your phone without 3G? Wi-fi?

I have the same problem, so I'm going to try your fix . . . so you were rooted with official Froyo, but lost your 3G. You downloaded Titanium Backup via Wi-fi, went to stock, then flashed a ROM. And that fixed your 3G?

I did the same thing pretty much...I rooted according to killahamsammich's post #2 in this thread, then lost wifi and 3G Data (kinda expected it, seeing as how it happened to so many others). I loaded the GeeWiz Rom via ODIN, and all was good.

I also used this thread for help as well, as I was looking around for a solution:

HOW TO go to stock, OR from stock, and then flash any ROM. - xda-developers

I kinda fumbled my way through all of this, but it ended up being no big deal getting things back up and running.

tried this tonight, downloaded necessary files and pulled battery from my fascinate and plugged it into my PC. After holding down volume button the big yellow triangle appeared as expected. I started up Odin v1.3 and nothing happened. None of the 8 white squares highlighted as the instructions say. Its like it didnt recognize my phone being connected... or my phone didnt see Odin running, I'm not sure which direction the comm is. Any suggestions???

edit: downloaded samsung drivers and rooted successfully... now I dont have any mobile data connection. I see many other posts here regarding the same issue, I wish I had read further on first :/

Also lost data access with SU+Busybox flash. Guess I'll just go for it and try flashing CM7 now...

do not use su + busybox file in post #2 by killahamsammich. if you uses it,u will lose 3g and wifi. i usually called verizon wireless to reset my keys in order to get 3g sign back, but even with that mathod, 3g didnt worked.
