HELP needed unrevoked3 EVO

Ive followed all the steps as noted in this thread. Once I run unrevoked and states waiting for device I plug phone into usb unrevoked never reads it and remains @ waiting for device. I have done this 3 or 4 times now. Im running win xp seems once i plug phone in the device manager pops up to install software.

This is the first time ive tried to root so not a pro by any means.

Please help

I don't use unrevoked but it sounds like you don't have the unrevoked USB driver installed.

Yeah, read the instructions on the unrevoked download page, where it says "more info?". You need to download and install a driver, and make sure that you follow the instructions to tunr on usb debugging in your application settings.

If you have already done this, do you have HTC Sync installed on your pc? That could also be the problem.

Ill try to re-do the drivers but ive gone thru the unrevoked website and downloaded the driver and see in devices android 1.0, then boat interface? I believe thats what its called.

I had the same problem. If you have a different computer try using it. I tried using my desktop and kept getting the same "waiting for device" message. I switched to my laptop and download the hboot driver and things ran smoothly.
Also make sure you have USB debugging ON before you plug your device in. Menu>Settings>Applications>Development>USB debugging.
I know this last part might sound strange but when I tried the first time I was using a cable that had a "transistor" block near the end of the micro usb end of the cable and it never showed up on my desktop. I switched to a stock cable on the 2nd try and it worked no problem. (not sure that mattered but what the hey)
One other thing to check.. re-download the unrevoked flash i think the current version is 3.31 make sure you use that one. Ver 3.22 will not root an EVO running OTA 3.70.
FYI the 3.31 version came out less than a week ago.

I do have a laptop at home both my pc and laptop are running XP but will give it a shot. I also was using a non oem usb cable so that might be an issue also. Ill give it a shot with both and see what happens.

ok i finally got to the unrevoked disclaimer prior to root clicked ok and ran for a few minutes unrevoked advised me my firmware is too new? Thought this root would work with the most recent OTA?
