HELP! Nexus 4 locked and cracked screen-how can i retrieve photos

Hi guyz, I had a similar problem with my phone (LG Optimus LTE Korean Model) with a screen so smashed I couldn't make out anything, let alone try to unlock it, locked out from PC file browser, what not...

When I plugged my phone in to the PC I expected to simply be locked out of it. However, I was able to access a directory on the phone which had some autorun programs. I ran one and ZING I was able to access the phone's file system. Seems like a big oversight on LG's part in terms of my lock screen actually keeping people out of my data, but I was able to access my contact back-up and everything else I wanted.

I know this is an old thred, but since I had the same problem today...
If your phone is locked, you cannot access the files.
I called my phone with another phone while phone was plugged to the computer. While it was ringing I could access my files. I then copied what I needed.

Yeah.... somehow...

On nexus 4 updated to android 5 you can turn ON OFF WiFi, Bluetooth etc. while ringing or talking. Users which forgot pattern can go to their connected WiFi's and use email credentials to unlock. You can't use it to connect to a new WiFi even if it is free... lock screen comes up...

I'd like to thank cydonain74: his post 'saved the life' of a friend of mine that got a broken screen on her Nexus 4 and, as usual, had a lot of photos, videos and so on in there but no backup... All the content was recovered thanks to the solution pointed by him.
There are a lot of blogs reporting the same problem with no solution presented. So, I'd take permission to sugest that cydonain74 search that kind of post and publish the solution he got, according him miraculousely...

Thank you so much!!! I've been wrecking my brain trying to figure out a way to save my data after locking my phone. Tried this and it worked the second time I dialed my number. I was able to access my phones internal memory and save the data I had to my pc.
Just as a background. I have a Galaxy S4 i9505G, I set a new pattern and forgot it and with the new updates is lollipop I was unable to bypass the lock. I also didnt have USB debugging on so couldn't try a lot of the other things suggested.
