Hey everyone, I just got my N7 and I've got one pretty big issue. No matter what I've tried my N7 wont show up when connected to my mac, I've used every micro usb cable I have, and I've downloaded the android file transfer app, but still nothing.

The nexus uses mtp file transfer. Asus has drivers on their site. Usually the android drivers are to root it. SMTP is a general file transfer system.

ya that's the link I found and downloaded the android file transfer app, but keeps telling me that its not detecting my N7. Anyone else having this issue?

You might just need to download the drivers. Google nexus 7usb drivers. Mac should automatically do it. I have no probs. Mac book pro 2009 .

You could try Airdroid from the Play store. I use it on my Mac for my Gnex. Only got my N7 today so I've not tested it on here yet.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Android Central Forums

Download Google's "Android File Transfer" (it's a Mac app). Drag it to your Applications folder, then plug in your N7 via USB. Good to go.

Yes, but for me it's because I'm on an ancient PowerPC Mac. I found a suggestion on the official android forum to try XNJB as an alternative file transfer utility. The next-to-most-recent version (1.5.9) works for me on PPC, OS X 10.5.8.

Good luck!

I am facing exactly the same issue. Recently I have purchased Nexus 7 for Android Development purpose. I have downloaded FIle Transfer utility for Mac as well. But it does not recognise Nexus 7. I am using Mac OS X 10.8. Please respond me as soon as possible.

Thanks!

same issue here Mac OSX 10.8 The transfer app does nothing. I have to use my windows VM in parallels to copy files. Which is not best because eventually it seems to lose connection to device not sure why.

I use either Airdroid or Android File Transfer. Either one works great for transferring files. All I had to do was install them and run them. Neither one involved changing anything on the Mac or N7, they just worked. Didn't have to root.

Hey guys,

This is my first posting here so forgive any newbee errors.

I've got the same problem : 'can't acces device storage' or 'no device found' when I connect my device to my MBP
Tried different cables, both USB ports, all the settings in the N7, restarting, ...
And now the weirdest thing...it works one in 10 time, if I'm lucky.
There's no logic to be found.

Tech data :
Macbookpro 10.6.8 using Android FT app.
Android 4.3

Help and suggestions much appreciated.

i just dl'd the file transfer app, and rebooted...and it works every time (10.9); make sure you see "Android File Transfer Agent" in your login items (in the Users & Groups Preference, in System Preferences). that has to be there when the mac starts up....
