If phones were to get cardiac arrest, this must be it!

My faithful Nexus 4, kept me going for the past 2.5 years without any major issues. Today morning, all of a sudden the screen froze for a few mins and came back. This was followed by non responsiveness of the navigation buttons.

I restarted my phone a few times, but every time, the screen froze of a few mins, come back and then the navigation keys would become non responsive.

After a while, the issue started to settle down and it became normal. But my phone is still going through episodes of "non responsive navigation keys".

The navigation keys work fine for a few mins, and then suddenly die.

I checked the process stats and could not find anything abnormal.
Pls note that I do not install Apps from outside the play store. My phone is run on Lollipop 5.1.1 build LMY48M.

Any inputs?

Cheers,
Arnav

The issue stopped surfacing!
I guess it was after I updated a few Apps from the play store.
I am not able to point out to the exact cause and fix. But the as I remember now, the issue surfaced after I updated a few Apps. I had episodes of the issue for 2 days after the update.

Later I updated the Apps again and the issue stopped to occur.
I do remember a few of Apps that were updated initially had updates the second time too.

I did not try to boot my phone in the safe mode while I was facing the problem. That would have definitely helped me narrow down the cause.

Cheers,
Arnav

When there's another update for an app in quick succession, that often means that they caught a bug and immediately pushed out another update. They often don't mention this in the release notes. That may be what happened. Glad it's working normally again!
