My husband has been given an a100, and it looks pretty good so far BUT... He's a complete technophobe and I have no experience of android at all!

There's no handbook, can't find any help files on the tab and when I try downloading apps from android market it just tells me 'there are no android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account'

What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it please?

TIA

Did you create the gmail accout via the tablet during setup, or did you have one before?

During setup. It has an app called GoMarket which appears to be similar to the android market except its all in Chinese, and will only let me download stuff if I alter the settings to allow third party apps.

It was given to him while he was in China.

SInce it came from China, that may be the problem. If the device is being detected as one that is not allowed on the market, then the market itself will not show the device as one you can download apps to.

I thought that might have something to do with it...

Still, it has everything himself is likely to ever use already on there (docs to go - pretty unlikely to use much else!) then it'll do fine I guess!

Thanks for the help

I think, if the a100 is the real deal and not a knock off, you could flash one of the gen 1 update files from here on xda, it should give you access to the market and all the other Google apps that you might want to use. Warning though it could also mess up your tab, you should do some research and see if it is right for you.
