I am totally new to smartphones and tablets so am desperate for help on so many things but I will try to ask them one at a time (and in different posts). I am also a senior citizen so please if you can help do so as if you were talking to a child :)
My husband & I have Samsung Galaxy Ace phones (he has the Duos version which takes two sim cards) and I've just bought him a SGT 2 10.1

I believe I need to download Kies onto my PC in order to update the phones from Gingerbread to Jellybean but am concerned that reading on here so many people have problems with Kies and I really don't want to make a mess of the phones.
My first question is : if I download Kies will it automatically recognise that they are 3 different devices when they are each plugged in? If it doesn't and anything that gets downloaded goes on to all 3 devices, will I be able to delete what I don't want from my device without it deleting from my husbands devices?
My other question is my husband would like to have music from his iTunes Library on his Tablet. How easy a task is that to do using Kies? I know I first have to make a playlist in iTunes as he has so much music on there before I attempt to drag and drop it into Kies but am worried I may loose some of his music if I get it all wrong.
Sorry to sound such a wimp but, with help, I am determined to keep up with technology if at all possible.

Updates are hit and miss with Kies. Some people have no problems, other do. The thing to realize with threads is people don't start posts saying: "Everything went ok."
I don't usually connect more than one device at a time, but in theory you could.
I did hear somewhere that Kies helps with the iTunes transition. As I have not had an Apple device in so long, I don't know how it works.

From one senior citizen to another...

I installed Kies on my laptop. It recognizes both my Galaxy S3 and Galaxy TAB 2 10.1. I don't plug them in at the same time.

There is no doubt that iTunes is head and shoulders above Kies for synchronizing music. Kies is not intuitive to use. Once I understood the app, I didn't like it. That is the bad news.

The good news, at least for me, is that the devices set themselves up as devices in Windows Explorer. I use the old fashion copy and paste routine to add and manage my music and photos.

Others will explain how to use other available apps but I am too old too learn. :D
