Help Please! Kies=Smart Switch now, doesn't work on Desktop

Here is what I am trying to accomplish: I want to back up my Note 4 to my computer, before I inevitably have to update to Lollipop. So I have had Kies on my desktop computer for a year or so and just went to it and it pops up saying it has now changed to Smart Switch (which I did use to transfer from Note 2 to Note 4) Please confirm updating the app. So I hit yes and it downloads new files and says it has to remove the old Kies to update. I hit yes.....but it doesn't and that update screen keeps coming back.......

I know that Smart Switch worked great to transfer from one Samsung phone to another Samsung phone, but I am trying to create a backup of my Note 4 to my computer in case there are any problems with my phone in the future and want to restore from a back up. Help would be greatly appreciated!!

Ok, I am very sorry as I clicked off that message, plugged in my phone and went to back up and it appears to be doing it's thing!
