Hi all... I thought moving from a Huawei P20 Pro to a 'native android' Pixel 6 would be easy... but Android 12 has me flummoxed!

I'm hoping this is just a steep learning curve - but can anyone help with my current frustration? I'm trying to move a recently downloaded music file from "Downloads" to "Audio", but using the Files app there is no option available to "Move to..." - see attached screenshot

How do I move a file from anywhere to anywhere else then??

Thanks all

Hello. When you open Files don't go directly to the Downloads group. Scroll down and select Internal Storage, then select the Download folder, then when you press the three dot menu for that file you will see the option to Move or Copy.

Aha - that worked thanks! Counter-intuitive though... why make the Download files visible up front if you can't action them? I will continue my Android 12 journey...

Good deal. Glad that helped. It's not an Android 12 thing, that functionality has been that way ever since Google put the Files app in stock Android.

The Downloads you initially looked at is more of a "category" than a location. I believe it shows all downloaded files from various apps (which can have their own download directories). Other file manager apps do this kind of thing, like Samsung's My Files. I agree it can be pretty confusing.
