I have a galaxy nexus, it was given to me not working. When I try to turn it on there is a exclamation mark inside of a yellow triangle and on one side a pc and other side a phone.
So I was told it was rooted, a Rom was installe and when they tried to go back to stock it did this. I always had Motorola so I thougt Samsung would be as easy as Motorola to fastboot or sbf back to stock but its not as easy lol. So I tried everything I've read and nothinworks. I finally got Odin to recognize the phone, and when I try to flash the stock images it starts then sais

Initialization..
Get pit for mapping
Nand write start!!

Complete(write) operation failed.

Any help?? What am I doing wrong or missing?? Please!!!

Will it let you fastboot from your computer? Try locking the bootloader and then unlocking it.

Can you get the phone into fastboot... holding vol up and down and then holding the power button? If you can do that, then I would download Wugs toolkit and flash back to stock. You may need to install the drivers but the toolkit has everything that you will need to do that as well.

As creccaj was saying... try to get into the bootloader/fastboot by pulling and replacing the battery, then holding BOTH volumes and power until you see the bootloader screen. If it won't go there and will only take you to Odin mode you can probably still fix it.. though Odin is an area I admittedly know nothing about dealing with.. Whoever you got this from did something incredibly dumb to it, btw.

Our other Advisor, Zero Neck, is more familiar with Odin and might be able to help if he gets here later. I'll do some asking and see if I can find a solution for you as well.

EDIT: You are sure you aren't holding volume down and power when you are trying to boot up? Because that brings you to the odin mode you are seeing... make sure you aren't doing that on your own...

No I cannot go into bootloader mode I've tried it a lot of times. I alreadydownloaded wugs but I can only.go into Odin mode and Odin isn't working

If you're in S.Fla I'd take a look at it... So the computer is recognizing it. Do you have adb and fastboot installed on your computer? What happens if you type
Code:
adb devices

or if using mac/linux
Code:
./adb devices

if it recognizes the device, you could then type:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
to get into the bootloader, where from there you could grab a factory image from here
and then use fastboot to install it.

Otherwise, make sure you follow this: [HOW TO] Return to Stock Using Odin (VZW and GSM)

I've gotten some info from zero neck.. again I am not familiar with odin so I'm going to paste his response and hope you can work from it and it might be helpful (zero is a busy guy today but will possibly be around later to offer more help):
-- He needs a PC and an Odin program from xda, and he needs to do both PDA and phone to make it work correctly
-- There's PDA and phone files for Odin, he needs both

So I'd check xda, or if anyone knows where these files can be found and can link it would be appreciated. Sorry I can't offer more just yet, little busy on my end as well.. keep us updated.

I rebooted and hard reset whipe cache. And Verizon won't do anything I work for Verizon haha I got this phone off a customer for free cause he bricked it I'm trying to fix it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but maybe if you go online and do the phone activation/switch from one device to a different device, that will get it going. That's what I did when I got my GNEX.

The problem isn't the ESB swap on the system cause when u do a sim swap Verizons system updates automatically, the problem is the phone itself is getting no type of connection, there is a red.X instead of any bars on the phone.
