Help Please

i have been trying to wipe my phone for a couple of days now, i read the sticky, got to step 5 where it says hold volume rocker up and power, nothing happens my phone vibrates 3 times and the screen stays blank, then my comp makes a weird buzz noise after my phone vibrates. please anyones help would be great, is there another way to wipe the phone besides what the sticky has?
