Hello,

I have a droid x with the liberty 1.5 rom installed. I would like to get netflix working on my phone. What do I need to do?

Thanks

ok so i gave him the wrong links. just covering some the beginnings in case he needed them.

Sent from the X of B

He is running a custom rom, so it sounds like he at least knows how to root and flash roms.

I know the basics. I followed the tutorials on how to install liberty and bootstrap etc etc.

One of the guys has netflix here at work (at&t) and now I would like it on my droid. I have been reading some of the netflix threads but I have not found any info from people running liberty.

BTW Thanks for the help so far.

Looks like they have an apk file over at XDA that has device check disabled. This means it will pretty much work with any build. I ran it on my X running stock Froyo. Streamed perfectly. Here's the link:

xda-developers - View Single Post - [APP]Official Netflix (new device check disabled)

I pulled this out of the netflix thread.

So Which one of the files do I need to download? Do I save it to the SD card and then use clockwork recovery to install it? Is there anything else I need to do Ex backup, etc etc?

Sorry for all the questions I am fairly new to this.
Thanks again

Download the second file, the one with the device check removed. I use Dolphin Browser Mini on my phone and I was able to directly download the file on my phone. Other folks have had to download the file on their computers and email it to themselves.

Once the .apk file is on your phone, use a file explorer app (I use Root Explorer, well worth the money) to locate the file. Click on it to install. Make sure that you have "allow non-market apps" checked in your phone settings.

Excellent. That is the file I downloaded.

I have astro file manager on my phone so I should be able to use that. Do I need to backup or do anything else before I download and install the file?

I also downloaded the netflix.apx file and saved it on my pc. Will I require that file or does that file you told me to download include everything I will need?

Thanks for your time

No backup required. It's just an application.

You don't need the original .apk, only the one with the device check removed.

So far I got nothing. It will give me the red netflix screen then it will go to a blank white screen. Any suggestions??

Just got an error message.
Please make sure that your devices date and time settings are updated to the current date.

Any ideas?

Im going to reset the phone..

Hold on,

I am in a bad cell area so I switched to Wi Fi. It loaded and movies are playing!

Thanks to everyone who helped out. I really appreciate it....
