Just got a NC yesterda and I installed 1.1 update not knowing that it was going to be a pain to remove to root. I have done the 8x reboot to retun it to factory default but it never asked me to register again and now just keeps flashing an error at the top the the home screen. I have tried it again and same result. My software version says unknown. Any help would be great. I hope I can return to stock because right now it's can't be used as an ereader. thanks

It took me all day Saturday to find the reset instructions - I had the same problem. To reset to factory stock, turn th Nook off and then holddown the power button and the n (home button) at the same time until the reader restarts. You should see the notifacation for reset. Note that any documents you may have side loaded will be lost, but you're back to square one.

Oh THANK YOU!!! I was doing it without the N button and was having a hard time with it. I got to (at most) 4 stops before I'd miss one. This made it work every time. Now, I'm off to root!

Dang, you guys could saved me about 6 hours of "research", yesterday. :p

Reverend_Ink, you may be slightly confused. The "8x thing", and the "n button thing", are two separate techniques, and you need to do both for a complete reset. See this page.
