Help! Rom Manager not working..GSE4GT

Phone is rooted but still with stock rom. installed rom manager then it added ClockworkMod. That got done. However, every time I try to do a backup I get this message:

Android system recovery <3a>

Enter: Ok key, Select: Vol Up / Vol down
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data / Factory reset
wipe cache partion

Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

This is as far as I get.

What is whole-file signature and what to do about it?

I can't risk installing a new rom until I do a backup..

ROM Manager support is very new on this phone. I believe it has some quirks and having it working correctly depends on your kernel. This thread may be of help Touch now supported in Rom Manager - xda-developers

i have a sgs4g and i'm having the same issue. I've been trying to flash gingerbread but i can't cuz my phone won't back up and i don't wanna do it til i can. how do i fix it?
