I have spent the last few hours reading blogs and threads on this, it seems a common problem with Samsung Galaxy. My storage (user data) only adds up to 28GB max but my phone capacity of 64BG is full. It doesn't add up. Something is using over 30ish GB without me knowing?

I am a 'normal' phone user, not lots of apps, not tons of photos, or videos etc

I read the post about deleting Facebook as it can run incorrectly somehow on android and take up lots of data, but I don't have Facebook. As a precaution I have deleted Instagram and Whatsapp, as I think maybe they are run by Facebook? It has only freed up 4GB.

On another thread someone who had the same problem downloaded DiskUsage app and it showed something called VisionProvider which is related to Bixby Vision was using up 30+GB of their data. I cant find this VisionProvider on my phone anywhere. So I have downloaded DiskUsage but don't really understand what i'm looking at, this is NOT my forte?

It tells me I can View my Storage Card and when I do there is a whole load of stuff... I'd love to send someone a screen shot. I have no idea what I'm looking at.

Bummer. Download Data Size Explorer from the Playstore. Run the scan for internal storage and post the result as a screenshot. Good luck

I was having a similar problem. Try going into the "my files" app, click three dots at the top right. Clear the "trash" like on a pc.

You can also do this for secure files and any micro sd card.

Anything you delete is held onto just in case you change your mind.

so you don't have 3 dots at the top right that, when clicked on, says:

share
create folder
sort
analyze folder
TRASH
settings?

I'm on s9+ also.

If i click on 'my files' then the three dots, i get 'Get more space' or 'Settings'. Neither of which help

We must be on different versions of android. I'm on android 10 one UI (VERSION 2) with security patch at March 1, 2020.

I'm guessing "get more space" did nothing.

Yes i feel like this could be the problem maybe? It was when i moved from iphone to samsung so it copied everything over.
Maybe now i can take all those photos and vids and get them on my macbook somehow? I just tried plugging my phone into my computer but it doesn't recognise it.
I think im going to have to give up and throw all this technology in the bin and go back to good old fashioned pen and paper. This is BEYOND ME.

Also show us a screenshot of the Settings>Storage menu, just to see what the system itself is reporting.

Keep in mind that a 64 GB phone doesn't have all 64 GB of storage available to the user. A certain amount is taken up by the system. If the phone reports only 48 GB available to the user, that means 16 GB are taken up by the system and uninstallable bloatware.
