Hey to all,

Tech guys, I need some expert advice please if you don't mind. All the sudden this morning I go to pick up my 6p and the screen doesn't come on. I can still push numbers on my passcode screen which it's on bc I can hear them when I just start random pushing them. Seems like the device is working fine but my screen is 100 percent black or dead. I even hear my notifications too. Do any of you have any suggestions before I take it in to a repair store here locally. I'm not sending it off as I need my phone and it will take too long. If I could fix this issue myself that would be even better. Anyone else experience this before or do any of you tech guys have thoughts about what it could be and what I'm looking at cost to repair or even if I can repair it myself? I've done several hard reboots on it but the screen remains to stay 100 percent black with nothing coming from it. Again in the background the device is still in proper function. Can a screen or the LCD just all the sudden go out and I still have function of touch response? Help and advice is greatly needed before I take it to wireless wizard and pay them to fix it. Thanks to all for any help.

No one our there has a guess or any type of expert advice at all? Thanks anyway. I'll just take it on in to the cell phone repair and find out possibilities from the expert tech there. Mods you can close this thread. No need for it to remain open. Thanks.

Not everyone here is constantly checking the forums every hour. Sometimes it takes a bit of time for someone to respond.

Have you tried going into safe mode to see if this still happens? It could be an app causing an issue with the screen. Have you tried doing a reset?

Thanks. Late last night I got it back out and did some extra research and digging. I finally was able to reboot in recovery mode then I did a factory reset. All has been okay since then but I'm puzzled at what could have made the screen go out in the beginning. Has to be a software glitch or I would not have gotten a recovery screen to boot up. I held those two buttons for well over a minute before I finally got the boot recovery.

Welcome to Android Central! It could have been a 3rd party app that was causing instability. The tricky thing is that if it happens again, it can be difficult to pinpoint which app is causing the problem.

The next time this happens, you should be able to force a shutdown by pressing and holding Power for about 15 seconds. Then power on normally again.
