Help - Top bar is hiding when on desktop

The bar containing notifications and settings will move up and off the screen when I go to my desktop, and I can't swipe it back down. It comes back when I go into an app such as Chrome, but just goes back up when I hit the home button.

I can't find a way to fix this from any searches, so I'd be thrilled if anyone had an answer. Thanks for your time!

Are you using a 3rd party home screen-launcher app with something like a "Show/hide notification bar" setting? I know Nova Launcher has the option to hide the notification bar...

I am using Nova Launcher, but I haven't gone into the settings yet. Is it one by default now? I only reinstalled it today and had it previously, not having this issue.

Not sure if it is on by default, but there is definitely a toggle for it in Nova (settings > look and feel > show notification bar)
