I have the droid x with official froyo installed and rooted. I downloaded the gingerbread leak from droid-life, the 4.5.591 leak, the "Fully Odexed" file (can't post the link)

I followed the instructions, renamed it update.zip and used the droid x bootstrap. It looked like everything went fine, but when the phone was rebooting, it just gets to the Motorola "M" logo (original, not red) and then resets again and again. I went into the Android system recovery, and tried everything there; reboot system, apply sdcard:update.zip, wipe data/factory reset, and wipe cache partition. Nothing has worked. At the bottom it says "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command. when I goto apply update.zip it says "E:signature verification failed"

At this point im getting so frustrated i'd just like to get back to stock froyo and wait for the official gingerbread!

Someone please help me! I've searched everywhere and found no help! Thanks!

I'm not exactly savvy in this area, so I can't tell you if there is an easy fix.

From what I gathered in your post, you skipped a step.

to get to .591 you are suppose to (I believe) go to the .588 leak of GB, root, then bootstrap to .591 or .595 or etc.

I don't know if you can install the .588 as an update.zip or not, but the most sure fire way would be to SBF back to froyo then give it a 2nd go. (I think)

And even though it might be anoying to have to SBF, it is worth it. I love the enhancements in GB.

Try the droid 2 bootstrapper, works better on the X than the DX bootstrapper for gingerbread leaks. Less buggy, dunno why. ]

and follow the instructions in wildman's link.
