Help updating Moto X 1st Generation (2013) From Kit Kat to Lollipop

[AC Question]

Here are some specs for my phone:

Android Version: 4.4.4
System Version: 212.44.26_att.ATT.en.US

The phone used to be on AT&T, but I bought it unlocked from Amazon, and now I use it with a prepaid plan from T-Mobile.

I'm trying to get from 4.4.4 Kit Kat to 5.1 using OTA

This won't let me post links, but I'm using this file: Blur_Version.212.44.26.ghost_att.ATT.en.US.zip

I get the error message:
Verifying current system…
“/system/etc/install-recovery.sh” has unexpected contents.
Installation aborted

Can anyone help? I'd like to get my phone updated. Some of my apps are giving me issues because I'm not on Lollipop.

Have you tried taking it to an ATT store and have them update LP for you. It's still their phone.

I've been talking to T-Mobile, and they suggested I contact Motorola, but they really didn't help me out either.

So AT&T would be the store to take it to?

There was a woman here who had an ATT phone, using it on T-Mobile. She ended up going to ATT and having them upgrade her phone to LP.

As you must have noticed, even if you check for updates, the phone won't update. Its because you're on another carrier than the original carrier and they don't have OTA's for it.

All you can do is try. They may give you static, but try to find someone who'll help.
