Help upgrading to HTC One

So I've finally decided to get the HTC One, but here's my dilemma. I'm still using my HTC Thunderbolt, when I try to upgrade my phone through the Verizon website, it tells me I need to change my plan to the share everything plan. Doing so will bump the price of my plan up to about $25 more a month. I'm currently paying $29.99/voice, $15/messages, and $29.99/unlimited data. I know by upgrading my phone, I will lose my unlimited data, but that doesn't bother me since I don't use a lot of data (around 1GB/month). Are there any other options I can take where I can keep my current plan, but only change my data? I really don't want to pay anymore than I am currently.

Instructions:

1. Visit Verizon?s iconic portal website.
2. Sign-in as an existing customer.
3. Choose ?Devices without Wireless.?
4. Tap the ?All Devices? button at the top to see their entire lineup.
5. Find the phone you?d like to buy and select the amount you want.
6. Press the ?Continue? button.
7. Decide if you want to buy accessories, then click ?Continue.?
8. Enter your billing info.
9. Confirm the total.
10. Confirm the order again.
11. Pay for your new phone.

Sorry, forgot to say that I don't want to purchase the phone at full price. I wanted to buy the phone at a discount price with the 2 year agreement.

I did a little research and read that I could keep my voice and message plan as it is currently and change my data from unlimited to 2GB.

The problem is, I just talked to a chat rep and I was informed that I could not do that. Even if I were to buy the phone somewhere else and just activate it, I would still have to change my plan to the share everything plan. Is this true or can I say buy the phone from amazon, dell, etc.., activate it and change only data only?

When you were on the website and picked the HTC one, it may have thought you were adding a phone. Make sure you click on the links for switching a phone with one that hasn't been activated yet.

You may have to go to a corporate store. I went through the same thing trying to upgrade to the One.
