YouTube - Froyo DK28 samsung epic 4G freezing and locking up issue PLEASE HELP

This happens when I use Odin AND SD card method to update to DK28. I believe it is hardware related because it didn't happen on my last Epic, and on Eclair I will lose 3G sometimes randomly and it will not return for a while until it decides to (i.e. soft reset fails, update prl and profile fails, even re-provisioning fails).

Like I said, this happens after loading ANY DK28 based ROM through Odin AND SD, but when I return to DI18, it runs smooth and fine again.....

Is the ROM still updating your account? That can take up to 30 minutes and the phone wont run well until that is complete.

no....i tried using this without signing into my google account.

again, to clarify, i've used to victory.pit file (forget the correct name) and the Froyo DK28 PDA file for Odin.

Maybe I should try DK17? Ive tried loading DK17, but it gives me an error on Odin when trying to do it.

There is a couple of people here that will see this and have better info than me. Good luck, don't know much about the sg series.

You know both Ragnarokx and I have tried to come up with solutions to your problems in the past. I'm not sure why you keep having such bad luck.

yea....just figured i'd give a visual representation in case it helps and in case someone comes across and fines a solution. maybe i'm actually ONE of the people giving sprint and samsung a good reason to off froyo until it works for ALL phones? maybe i'm one of those FEW (and apparently VERY VERY VERY VERY few) people where the update could potentially ruin their phone..........................

naw......they've been given enough time to work that out by now lol.

in the meantime...anyone got a good way of messing up their phone so that I can get a replacement lol......the sprint store i usually attend will definitely replace it in store if a problem can be replicated. i really do believe there is something wrong with my radio or something internally to be causing this. this has never happened to my old epic, and I flashed DK28 plenty of times on that device. it also held 3G stronger than this device.

If you want to get a replacement phone, Odin back to Eclair and take it to Sprint - explain that your 3G randomly does not work. It's a legitimate reason and worth a shot.

And btw that video shows your friend's phone number in the notification bar, you might want to blur/block that out.

yea it was actually sprint lol....

but i've tried taking it in for the 3G issue and the guy I got was one of those reps that think they know it all but really don't (he tried to show me a prototype of the Pre 2 lol). guess I'll just have to either try my luck through customer service or go back in another day. that shop is almost 2 hours away though but it's the only place that will ever help me :(:'(

Touch not responding sometimes

I'm rooted running DK28 on the truly epic rebirth rom. Problem is sometimes (almost every other) the touch only responds for a few seconds then stops completely. The only workaround is to hit the power button twice and try again. The touch then works till screen off again. Very consistant trouble and I have no clue where to start isolating as its not a known issue with the rom. Oh and I'm sure its not lag.

check out my post below yours.....having the exact same problem with no solution.....

interesting......does your epic have a white sticker where the battery goes? also, is your 3G always bouncing on/off?

I've seen it too, on every DK28 ROM I've used. Not that often but several times a day. Usually either cycling the screen or sometimes hitting the home button wakes it up. I just assumed it was one of the problems with DK28 since it is a beta test ROM.

Probably one of the numerous reasons why there is no "official" 2.2 release for the Epic yet.

^this is something I was speculating as well....out of all the people who have successfully upgraded to DK28 without problems, some of us are really having problems just INSTALLING it....

but even if that were the case, it should have been resolved by now....

Apparently I hijacked this thread instead of my intended new thread. Thx for the reply. I wish I could do a better job isolating it but once I was running the rom I went ape adding apps. I can tell you it has nothing to do with the keyboard. Next time I have a problem ill try to remember to test the hardware keyboard.

I don't understand when you say install via odin and SD. Have you tried restore to DK28 instructions in the rooting and ROMing section? I don't see where the SD comes into play in those instructions. Maybe doing it that way would help?? admittedly I'm still stock. It's reports like these that keep me from taking the leap.

SD card was the main way people updated at first, but then Odin became more popular for flashing. But yea I just go one ordered for me so I have to pick I up on Tuesday. Then ill be able to run some froyo goodness....
