HELP! Phone has black screen when calling people.

hi, i recently got a new screen for my phone since i broke it. i called my friend to give him the good news but when after i dialled his number the screen went black. i would have to either press power multiple times or shut off my phone to get it back to normal. what do i do to fix it?

When the new screen was put in, the proximity detector was moved, damaged, blocked or something lse that's preventing it from seeing that you're no longer in proximity to it. If you did the screen replacement yourself, you'll have to open the phone again and determine what you did wrong. If you paid someone to do it, have them fix what they broke.

I had this same problem. If you google "Nexus 4 proximity sensor fix" or something along those lines, you should be able to find a discussion of it. The fix involves turning a tiny rubber grommet around from the way it's originally installed. The phone has to be taken back apart to do it.
