I haven't seen any solutions (including the above) that will let me send through bellsouth. Using a gmail account instead to check the bellsouth address and send as it. Please post if you get sending to work!

On a similar note, what setup should be used for a POP (Yahoo, Hotmail) account? What download frequency, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, aren't e-mails pushed anyway (except for Yahoo as I understand)? Any other settings I should consider, hidden tricks?

I have already updated to stock 2.1 Sprint Hero.

Hey road I'm on my phone otherwise I'd post a link but Jerry wrote a great article on how to use gmail as your personal push server for addresses other than gmail. I don't believe it works for yahoo but it will save you some battery life by having emails pushed rather than pulled.

Go to www.androidcentral.com and search "gmail push" and it will be the first article you see.

I found the solution in androidforums.com. Here's the link (go to the las post at the bottom): Bellsouth Email Settings? - Android Forums

Basically, this is what I did:
Incoming mail server type: POP3
Incoming (POP): pop.att.yahoo.com
Incoming User Name: Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g. yourname@bellsouth.net)
Incoming mail port #: 995, secure connection (SSL) checked

Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.att.yahoo.com, with authentication (same user and password as POP)
Outgoing User Name: Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g. yourname@bellsouth.net)
Outgoing mail port # 465, secure connection (SSL) checked

I was connected to wifi at the time I set it up.

Good luck!

anyone know how to fix this problem? I have a bellsouth.net email account working on my phone with all the personal folders that I created. Tonight, the email stopped working. I deleted the account, put it back in. Nothing. So I researched and changed the incoming/outgoing servers. Got my email account back with my inbox, but my personal folders are still missing; Anyone know how to get my folders back? Its a real pain to keep all my email in the inbox.
Thanks
