Ok so I followed the steps on the thread to auto root my tbolt, I downloaded the auto root folder made sure my usb was plugged in on the back of my pc and also downloaded HTC sync which I know it works because it detected my tbolt. Now my issue is this at the very first couple of steps when running the auto root its suppose to show my device id but it doesn't detect it. What can I do to fix this ? Is the auto root not compatible with Windows 7 ultimate? Thx in advance fr the help.

I did mine using Windows 7 Ult.

Try using a different USB port. (the whole "back of the computer" thing is directed at desktop models, the real important thing is to make sure you're using the PRIMARY USB port, and not a secondary hub).

Do not proceed until you get a response to the "adb devices" command.

Your TB should be set to USB debugging and the mode should be "charge only". When you plug it into the computer, you should hear the familiar "windows has detected a new device" sound.

Actually I get all of that I do have it on charge only and on debugging but fr some reason the auto root program (not my computer) can't detect my device but I will follow ur advice and try other usb ports my computer has 6 :/

Right...the script that the auto-root runs is actually using ADB.

When it checks for your device, it runs the command "adb devices", which will list all connected devices that are detected. It's a good test to ensure that your device is connected and detected and ready to go.

Not really an answer to your question...but the more you know...

You installed HTC sync, right? If I remember correctly, you have to do that first as well...just going through the checklist.

Well thx fr trying that's why I was like hmm this is odd lol.... Cause I know I followed every step correctly but o well guess my bolt doesn't want to be rooted :(

A big thing that I've only seen posted a few times I would suggest is to close HTC sync at the bottom. Make sure your phone.is on charge only also

I had issues running the auto root myself, follow the directions and it will work. The biggest thing is the USB port. My netbook had 3 and, like always, it was the last one I tried. Keep at it. If it doesn't work, move on to the next port.

I have tried every single port on my pc and i had made sure im following every step the way is suppose to be and whn i try to begin the root the auto root just closes on me btw is there any other method or is this the only one? .... I really want GB and sense 3.0 :S
