help with captivate freezing

hello all. :)
i have a question about my captivate freezing up repeatedly. When this happens none of the buttons or screens do anything. and when this happens you have to remove the battery to re set. sometimes this helps and sometimes it doesnt. This started in the last 24 hours,my phone is not rooted.The only thing i have installed in that time is HANDCENT sms. I have lookout virus scanner and it finds nothing wrong. has any one had problems with HANDCENT? or do you have any suggestions.Also could my sim card be bad? would that cause this?
Also on the sim question.. i took my sim card out and was going to try and use my old phone it isnt a "smart" phone it is a lg vu. the lg vu acts realy strange with the card from my captivate. is a sim from a smart phone differant? i do know when i bought the captivate they did install a new sim card.Thanks for any help~~ANDY
 
I know nothing about HANDCENT, however, your sim card should work fine in your VU since you say it is still stock and guessing that they are both AT&T phones. I kept my LG VU as my backup phone also and it worked fine when I tested it. Just make sure it is seated correctly.

I think you can have AT&T check the Sim Card by calling their support from a different phone and let them test it.

These occasional freezes do happen. Usually.. a restart or reboot should suffice. This happen to most or all smart-phones.
