Help with friend's phone password not working.

His phone suddenly stopped him from using his password. He would also get a notification from calls but was not able to answer them. I plugged it into my computer and tried to reset his password with adb but it did not work and gave an error message about it not being a command. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! If your friend totally forgot his phone password, he'll probably have to do a factory reset from the Recovery Menu. It used to be possible to remotely unlock a Samsung phone using Smart Switch, but they took that feature away.

Nothing more we can add then factory reset and login with Google's credentials

There's a reason why pins/password/biometric are in place as well as factory reset protection to prevent theft
