Question Help with getting a Backup of my phone set up

Samsung Galaxy A32 5G
Model: SM-A326U
Hardware version: REV1.0
Software version: A326USQSCDWL1
Vendor/Service Provider: Boost Mobile

I'm having trouble backing up my phone to an external hard drive.

When I go to
Settings > Accounts and backup > External storage transfer
I get the error message

"No external storage device detected"

Here is how my hardware is connected:

Android Phone > USB docking & charging station > USB power and data transfer strip > PC running Mint Linux 21.2 ( ext4 file system ).

External Hard Drive ( ext4 file system ) > USB power and data transfer strip > PC running Mint Linux 21.2 ( ext4 file system ).

I am able to see content on my phone and external hard drive with the file explorer(s) on my computer.

However, my Android phone doesn't seem to be able see the file system/devices of my computer and external hard drive.

Is there a way to set things up to make backups of my Android phone to my external hard drive?

Do you have a Windows PC available? If so, Smart Switch PC app will work. I doubt it there's anything for Linux.

No windows P.C..

Ironic given that Android OS is derived from Linux.

I've seen some hacks searching around. If I find any that work I will post them here.
