Help with Individual Ringers for Contacts

I received my LG Optimus yesterday.
I created a file called "ringtones" and chopped/fixed several mp3s, moved them into the phone. I am able to use them for the general ringer, but when I go into contacts and set one of those files for an individual contact ringer - its "shows" as the ringer - but when I call is received - its a "normal" beeping ringer - not even the main phone ringtone.
Any way to fix this?

Have you went to each contact and edit and assign the ringtones individualy and manually you can't I dont think when the app says assign to contact unless you use this app called ringtone its free or just do it manually let me know if that works and ill do a test to make sure I'm saying it right lol

I went in via the contacts screen
Contacts>Options>Ringtone - changed from "default" to the ringtone I added and it is still using either a default ringer or beep depending on the contact. I have no apps installed at this time that change/alter ringtones or contacts.

I've done what you did, and it works fine on mine. however, i'm still using system sounds, autosync/bckgrnd data are checked, and sync is ON (two gmail accts). idk if that should make any difference but it works.

Thank you for your information! I checked my autosync/background that and sync are on. lol this is driving me crazy. In my contact list is shows the correct ringer name, its just not ringing with it when they call.

Turning the phone all the way off and re-started.
Seems to be working now!
I have much to learn =)
