Help with my LG Enlighten

I accidentally deleted messages as I received one, so my phone says I have a text message when I really don't. I've tried restarting and clearing the data with no lucky. It's really annoying and I don't know what else to do? Any ideas or help?

Welcome to Android Central! Do you mean you went to Settings>Apps>All, selected the Messaging app, and tapped Clear Data? Did you also try the Clear Cache button as well?
