Hey guys. Im kind of stuck on the first step of the guide so generously posted by drewwalton19216801. I have downloaded the android sdk tools and i have another folder titled optimusrootZVD that has files in it. my problem is that even though im looking right at them, on the 2nd step of drews guide he says to Change to the directory where you extracted the files from OptimusRootZVD.zip and put in the following quote:cd C:\wherever\you\put\the\files. im looking at the files but dont know what to put in for where i put them. they are on my c drive. ive followed the video to a T on how to add them to my system path. Im a super noob but i know how to follow the directions, but if i put the wrong command in are'nt i effed. So feel free to tease me because i probably am asking a stupid question, but take even more liberty to help and educate me, Its pretty frustrating to have all the tools i need to start but be stuck on the 2nd step. Its my fault for not knowing, but can someone help me figure out the command for this. the box that has the android sdk tools looks like so on my computer:
>Computer>HP (C:)>android-sdk-windows>
so how would i type it for step 2 on drewwalton19216801 guide. if anyone needs help finding it heres the link and take a look at step 2

Guys i gotta make a correction. Step 2 is talking about optimusrootZVD. So i have both that folder and the androidsdk tools in front of me. the folder with ZVD looks like so at the top:
Steve>AppData>Local>Temp>OptimusRootZVD

so would i type cd C:\Steve\AppData\Local\Temp ?

Im trying guys. THX FOR LISTENING

Guys i think i got it. I extracted the files from whatever folder they were in and put them on the C: drive. the computer said it was putting them here C:\Users\Steve\Documents\OptimusRootZVD. so do i open sdkmanager and put that in as my first quote?

also shouldnt i be backing up my phone settings and apps the way they are now. is that were titanium backup comes into play because i thought you had to be ALREADY rooted to use that. am i wrong

from there i want to add CM7 but thats another story. but yes im just trying to root and get that custom rom

Titanium does require Root you are correct about that, so you will likely have to reconfigure at least some things.

EDIT: What am I thinking, until you actually flash a different rom you shouldn't even have to worry about reconfiguring anything, ideally.

Nice bit is once you have root you can install custom recovery and make a nandroid backup of your rooted config than, as for reverting back to something preroot. There are several threads on the issue, and I'm sure I'm not the only one with a preconfigured/non-rooted nandroid of vd ;)

In other words; I wouldn't sweat it too much at this point. Just remember once you have custom recovery to always make nandroids before performing any changes.

I realise as I am about to save this that you may not know what a nandroid is, if you do feel free to ignore the following.

A nandroid backup is a backup file of your entire phone configuration which can be created and restored from within custom recovery, the backup files themselves are stored in a directory on your SD card dependent on which custom recovery you use.

EDIT: I type slow, looks like Jon is helping you, sounds great

Okay people. the issue is resolved and I am happy to say I am now running CYANGENMOD 7 on my LG OPTIMUS S and this is ALL THANKS TO JONDEVERE. This guy, who was a stranger this afternoon, took 8 FREAKING HOURS OF HIS OWN TIME TO EDUCATE AND HELP ME. I would still be stock if it wasnt for this guy. I dont know whats more impressive, that he actually did like 90% of the work for me or that he spent the whole day helping me. Either way this guy deserves A TON OF RESPECT. Anybody have an issue, YOURE LUCKY IF YOU GET HIM TO HELP. This is an amazing thing. you can read my posts and see i was stumped before he came along. he didnt just un-stick me, HE WALKED ME THROUGH ROOTING, CUSTOM RECOVERY, AND INSTALLING THE CUSTOM ROM. SO THANKS TO JONDEVERE because i woke up with stock android 2.2, and im going to bed with 2.3 Gingerbread. so lg can keep their update. Thanks Jon. i would literally thank you a hundred times if they would let me. Respect.

you see where i hit him up on gtalk, thats where it started. and the dude rooted me from who knows how many miles away, guided me through recovery and installing that rom. now thats someone who helps his fellow man. again. Respect
