Help with setting up a new phone

Hello everyone. I'm a new android user. Moved from iOS this year and tried the moto X 1st gen. I was very satisfied and decided to upgrade to an xperia z3.

Now I read online that when I setup my new phone google will automatically download all the apps and settings. I don't want to do that. Is there an easy way to avoid this. On iOS I simply choose if I want to restore from an old backup or setup as new phone. Is there a way to do that in android.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Backup & Reset, and uncheck "Automatically Restore." Do this on your Moto X first, because you won't be able to access the setting on the Z3 during the Setup Wizard (I think).
