I don't know what I am doing wrong and getting completely frustrated... Please help :-D

I installed Java SDk java_ee_sdk-6u1-jdk-windows-x64 to be exact...
I Installed the Android SDK... ran the SDK manager and updated and downloaded everything.
I enabled Debugging mode.
I updated the ADB driver for the phone.

I followed to a T both: http://www.androidcentral.com/sdk-driver-root-oh-my and http://www.androidcentral.com/taking-screenshots-without-root

How ever when I double click on ddms.bat It just flashes up a console screen for 1/2 a sec and closes. I can't read what it says or anything. No other Window pops up as shown here:

I am running Windows 7 64bit. Any ideas?? I am not rooted, and am nervous to do that if I can't even get this going.

When I run the directions as the test here on the "SDKs, Drivers and roots - Oh, My" First test: Back up your apps - I get nothing. It runs and says 0 files...

:-( please help.

Hmm. I just did this the other night and had the same thing happen. I don't remember exactly what I did to make it work. Try restarting the computer and replugging the phone into the USB.

Don't double-click ddms. Instead, fire up the command line, navigate to the sdk/tools folder, and then run ddms.bat. Mine, for example, looks like this:
c:\asdk\tools\ddms
(Actually, because the only thing I use the command line for is the SDK, I set my command line to start in the tools folder. Then all I have to do is type "ddms" and it fires up.")

And don't forget to enable usb debugging on yor phone, or this is all moot.

Well that was super helpful, it at least kept up the command window, and it couldn't find Java. So I am re-insalling it to eh director it is lookng in versus where it is installed.

Fingers crossed! Thanks!!

Edit - How do I change the default of where cmd opens?

If you are rooted using something like shootme or drocap2 is a lot easier to use. Don't need to even get your computer involved.

Attached is a capture of me typing this message.

This was captured using drocap2 using jpg format.

Still a bit scared to root. If it took me this long to figure out the simple task of taking a screen shot, then I need to learn more about what I am doing. Lol.
