Help with sideloading.

I've downloaded HTC Sync 3.0, but can't seem to download apps. When I go to "APP INSTALLER" a file FDHttpd.apk comes up, do I need to install this, if so when I try, it says," Your device was not ready or there was no response." If someone could expalin the process of sideloading apps in layman's terms it would be greatly appreciated. I am new to Android so sorry if this is a problem that has been addressed before.

I don't think it works through HTC Sync. Use this.
