I have two Nexus 5x's, one for me and one for my wife, both on Google Fi. Both are having problems with wifi at home. My router is a TP Link Archer C5 and no other devices seem to have issues with it. I run both a 5ghz and a 2.4 ghz networks and the phones are configured to connect to either.

Here's what happens - wifi connection will be fine and then, randomly, will stop working. No network access. If I turn off wifi or switch to the other network (5 or 2.4 depending on what I was on when it happens) it works fine. It just seems to get stuck. Similar issues have been reported for a long time and I was hoping the latest update would fix.

Here's what I've tried (I'm fairly tech savvy):

1. enable 5ghz or 2.4 ghz connections only on phone
2. increasing DHCP lease time on router
3. updating router firmware (it was already at latest)
4. forgetting the networks and re-authenticating
5. making sure Keep wifi on during sleep is set to always

It doesn't seem to happen outside of my home network, though I'm not connected to other networks for very long very often. I'd say it happens 2-3 times per day. Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for things I can try on my phone or router?

Thanks!

Test in Safe Mode long enough to determine if the issue persists or goes away.

Also, is bluetooth on when this happens? Or any other 2.4GHz devices in the vicinity that might kick on to cause interference?

Good question, I forgot to mention have tried leaving Bluetooth on since others have said it helps - didn't seem to make a difference. I don't normally have Bluetooth on all day. I have not tried Safe Mode.

Definitely give Safe Mode a try since some process might be starting up that kicks you off the network....

Thanks, Project Fi support said to set WiFi frequency band to 2.4ghz only because "Nexus devices don't support 5 GHz Dynamic Frequency Selection channels. What this means is that the device may not be able to connect to some 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequencies." I'll try this and the keep Bluetooth on again and see what happens. Hope the next update addresses this.

I think the WiFi setting to Keep WiFi on during sleep set to ALWAYS is also important....

I can only laugh at statements like this, because the fact is, it's worked just fine until 6.0.1. That's all I need to know.
