Help!

I have had my hero for over a month now and love it! But there are a couple things that I am having problems with and need help on!

I have downloaded some notification tones and ringtones and I can get to them from my music folder, but when I try to set them the only option is as a ringtone and I want them to be for notification tones. How do I do this?

Also, there is a icon on my status bar that the manual has no match to, it's a half moon shape in white with great rays that flash on and off. does anyone know what this means? I can't find out how to remove it. It appeared after I installed weather bug and I thought it was my gps but that icon is the compass shaped icon.

create a folder in the root of the SD card (if it's not there already) named 'media' and in there create 'ringtone', 'alarm' and 'notification' folders. Then put the sounds you want where you want them
