Okay so I have a decision to make. I have seen the Motorola Xoom and I have seen some of the LG G-Slate. They both are really good looking tablets, have Honeycomb, and are pure Google. I am currently on T-Mobile but have no problem with buying the tablet from Verizon. Either way I will buy the tablet out right and get a data only plan. I like both tablets and wouldn't care which one I get. I still am unsure if I will just buy it out right and use my Nexus to tether or buy a data plan. If I get the G-Slate I might just tether.

LG: I hate LG. I like the tablet.
Motorola: I hate Motorola. Like them BETTER than LG. I like the tablet.
Verizon: I hate Verizon's prices. Like their coverage. - $50 5GB
T-Mobile: Love T-Mobile. AWESOME prices. Horrible coverage. $39.99 5GB $49.99 Unlimited

Help me out please. Either tablet will work for me. They sound like they have the same specs even though we haven't seen a spec list for the G-Slate it looks like it will be the same. The only thing that worries me about the Xoom is the upgrading to 4G. I wish it came with 4G, NOT a BIG problem but still a SMALL concern. Also the Xoom doesn't come with SD support at first but will with an update. Doesn't Verizon charge to use their 4G? I know T-Mobile doesn't. And I want the device that will get updates first and longer support. Please help me out. Thanks! :)

In the end of the day I think the winner is the Xoom.

They both are very similar from a hardware perspective but the Xoom can be thought of almost as the Nexus of tablets. Google worked directly with Moto on this to develop honeycomb so the integration will be flawless. It will also be out at least a month before the G-tab. As for the 4G the upgrade should be smooth, I wouldn't worry about something disastrous happening. In addition the 700MHz spectrum that Verizon has is very exciting. The building penetration will be unrivaled.

Edit: this of course assumes they are both priced similarly, I would be willing to pay $50 more for the Xoom

Thanks. You just helped me make my decision. I have decided to get the Xoom and get a 3GB data plan. Thanks! So wherever Verizon doesn't have coverage I can use my Nexus S to tether because I have unlimited on my Nexus. Sounds like a plan! Thanks!

I would go the T-Mobile service wise but if I was to tether it then just go with the buying the tablets outright and don't look back youll make the right choice when you look at the devices witch to you pops out just a little more when your looking at them spec wise and grab one lol that's what I do go a super review binge haha and which if built better and don't worry about buying the data plan why when you have internet tether and give them more money when your paying someone else :-) so really its about quality and OS's and of course price and when it comes out LOL

its really your choice have fun with it I wanted a galaxy tab because I owned a att captivate but if I get one it will be from over seas because for some reason I could unlock it and use T-Mobile flex pay and get unlimited data and add the minimum minutes and actually use it as a phone the us version can't but have fun with your tab :-)

Thanks you are right. I will buy the Xoom outright and just tether. Thanks! The only problem is I have EDGE on my Nexus and it isn't the fastest. But I guess it will do for now. Thanks a lot!

I hear you, I wish the Xoom was on TMo, that'd be great. Especially with those fat new data specs for hspa+.

Are you dying to get the tablet right away or do you have some time to wait and see what they're both going to be like? You can always return one and grab the other as well.

They are both going to be great devices, but I'm a little bias towards the Xoom. I'm hoping we will see a WiFi only version, but you can also just buy it outright and off contract and go from there like others have stated.

Yeah the more I think about it buying it off contract, though I'm sure it's going to be a pretty penny, is probably the best way to go.

I bet we see some great tablets with even faster speeds and better displays so off contract seems like a good way to go so you can just re-sell the Xoom to try something else out. (I can't believe it's not out yet and I'm thinking about my tablet upgrade path lol)

Lol ya if you really think about it if you suffer and your broke for a week or 2 or you dig in your pocket every month to pay for another internet source you have already you know when you buy something outright and that's that your broke then and there but if your stuck into a contract then your tied down and your paying such and such for just the internet and to keep paying will amount to buying another one of those tabs and if you want to cancel you know its $200 im down for being broke for a week or 2 haha :-)
