I just bought a HTC incredible from a guy on Craigslist. He said it was rooted, which was cool. I was looking into the ROM manager at its download section and decided I was going to download a mod under Virtuous. I backed up with clockmod, and followed the download. My device backed up correctly, and then rebooted, this time when it got to the droid eye, it froze. Then it started to try and reboot itself and all it gets to is the htc screen and reboots again and again. I pulled the battery and tried to enter recovery mode by holding the power and volume up button together. Any suggestions or am I up a creek without a paddle?

be patient. Virtuous will stop the reboot loop eventually (takes about 5 minutes in my experience). Just leave it alone for a bit.

Then disable lookout. Virtuous and Lookout don't get along for some reason, and that's probably what's causing the reboot loop.

Glad to hear this. I know that can be frustrating when you buy something from a stranger. And with that said, people need to be cautious and not be so trusting! I have sold 3 phones off Craigslist and one on ebay. I am honest though. I have had people try to burn me but I am just too smart for that. I am not implying anything here.
But people who buy phones from Craigslist should dictate a few things to protect themselves. We all know these days on Verizon you can automatically turn on a device using *228 and then add your phone number. If there aren't any problems it usually goes thru without a hitch.
BUT when you make a purchase from someone take some security measures. Ask the seller meet you at your carrier's location. If the seller says that isn't convenient, that should be your clue to not deal with this person. If the seller is honest, this shouldn't be a problem. Don't meet the person at a freeway exit or anywhere at night that isn't busy with activity. This is your hard earned money you are giving to this person. I sure wouldn't want to buy a phone and it be bricked, stolen, etc. You have to be in control over your transaction. Don't let the seller dictate to you when where how. You take direct action for the WHERE.

While that's good advice, that wasn't the TC's problem. It sounds like he bought a perfectly good phone. Virtuous ROM simply doesn't get along with Lookout Mobile Security.

This is just to prevent TC from giving the seller negative feedback for no reason.
