Here’s everything you can buy for the price of a Pixel Fold

I've never understood why smartphones are so expensive. I suppose it's demand for them and that people will pay the prices. I realize that very few people will actually end up paying the full price after discounts and trade-ins. But it is important to think about this from outside of a smart phone perspective.

I think this illustrates the biggest illusion in U.S. carrier phone service. People get so excited about discounts on new phones through their carriers that they don't realize how much they're getting ripped off on the service. In the end, people do actually pay the full price of the "discounted" phone. Some pay well over the full price.

There's no need to spend much more than 300 - 350 US or GB in 2023. Go splurge for 400 - 550.
Choose a great screen and good to premium chipset, decent battery life, long support, and

Leave the 800 - 1200+ devices to enthusiasts who want to nitpick and still not have everything.
Maybe the S23U and some others are close to being worth the outlay until the next big thing.

I don't see the point in having the ultimate camera on a 230gm 7 inch or foldable glass phone.
Keep a compact camera.
A foldable is slightly nicer for some uses, but doesn't hit 10" plus tablet territory, let alone a 14" plus laptop; and movies are only watchable on a tv or you'll miss most of the visual experience. May as well
