Last year I debated about the note 7, finally deciding on it but never getting the chance to order one, I have had an iPhone since the 3GS. I still sit here with the same iPhone 6plus I had last year wondering if I should switch to the note, I just don't feel as excited as I was last year for the note. I plan on waiting to see what the new iPhone is before deciding, but in a few hours I will be able to get my first glimpse of the note 8!

I'm 75% an Apple user, and I immediately dropped everything Apple and went with the Note7 last year. End of October I had a brand new, shiny iPhone 7 Plus. This year I'm way more hesitant and unlikely to order a Note 8, though I still love the Note series. I think this year is another iPhone year, but it's hard not to get caught up in the excitement of a flagship reveal.

Already know I want the Note 8. Then again I've been a Note user since the Note 3. Currently on S8+

Sorry. I can't deal with iOS and have been strictly Samsung for years, except for the iPhone 4 I had for work a few years ago. I don't know how some people can flip back and forth just because of a phone.
I say pick a platform and go with the phone that suits you best. But, to each their own.
That being said, I and expecting to love the Note8. Price will be the only determining factor for me.

Been a user since the Note 3 as well. Have had them all since then, but my favorite, aside from the 7, was the Note Edge. Gosh I loved that thing. Be still my heart.

The option to order the note 8 is driving me nuts right now. I have been staring at that confirm button all day, but I also want to wait to see what apple does with the new iPhone. Like I said I have always been an apple user, so I don't know how great or not so great the android platform is, if apple really knocks it out of the park I will get the new iPhone, but I really want to try the new note!! If I ordered the note 8 now, it would be here sept 12th, that's around the same time apple is doing their announcement, if I wait till then, it might be October before I could get either phone. Maybe later for the iphone. I am still using an iPhone 6 Plus that I have had forever.

At least last year when I wanted the note 7, I could not get it because of the recalls, now the order button is there and it's making me crazy

I liked the edge a lot as a whole, but the one very aggressive edge got to me and irritated me. Great phone though all around really.

Have you had some time to use a currently out android, even if it's a friend's phone, to get a feel for it. Note 8 has the same in general, android platform but wow it's amazing. I played with a demo model three times so far in as many days lol.

This won't help you. . I was planning to wait a few months to see what little deals might be offered through T-Mobile. Well I saw the love unpack event and by midnight I was in the chat window preordering it.

I made the mistake of getting an S8+ on payment plan. So not able to take advantage of the trade in orffer. I called Verizon and they are more or less canceling my current payment plan, only made 4 payments and waiving the 8 remaining payments to get to 50%. and will replace with the payments for the Note 8. should have kept the Note 5 and waited. would have only had to shell out $500. oh well live and learn.

You can spend your whole life on the fence! Jump off. I don't think note 8 will disappoint.

I'm in the same position as you, but I'm currently using the iPhone 7+. Been using the first iPhone, iPhone 3G then the 4s, 5/5s, 6+/6s+, 7+; I'm pretty much stuck with the ecosystem since I have the iPad and use mac for work.

I'm still debating if I should break loose and go for the Note 8 (I used the Note 5 and Note 7 which I do like the camera quality but it was hard since I'm so used to the iOS ecosystem.) or stick with my 7+ if the next iPhones doesn't impress me. Have to wait and see.

I too LOVED the Note edge which was my first note, but I did love the 7.

That would be a tough decision indeed. I had the 6S Plus last year and I really liked it. What helped was the Google ecosystem worked fairly well within iOS so I didn't lose any of my core functionality. I'm not so sure it works as well the other way.

I wouldn't say one platform is any better or worse than the other now days. They are both excellent work and play devices. If you can get past the differences between iOS and Nougat I think you'll like it.

Well I'm quite invested with Apple (iPhone 7 plus, iPad Pro 10.5, Apple Watch, Apple TV, AirPods. MacBook Air). I also have a back history with Samsung devices (note 1, S4, note 3, S5, note 4, S7 edge). I was conflicted about wether to get the note 7 last year and waited but when I'd made up my mibd to get it Samsung had withdrawn it from sale.

I've not been that impressed with what we know about the iPhone 8 so far and I thought iOS 11 for the iPhone was a poor update.

This year I've decided to go for the note 8 and keep my 7 plus for another year.

I have the S8 plus and the difference between the two is not enough to spend over 900 for a new device.
