Yep. You could download one of the nice Home replacements from the market like aHome or openHome right out of the box. Combined with some of the available widgets, you can make the Moment look very much like a Hero if you wanted to.

In the future, I'm fairly certain the Moment will be able to run the Hero's UI just like the Dream/G1 does now.

There's nothing about the Moment that makes it a bad choice, and once some developers get it figured out and start making custom ROM's, the Moment will look as good, provide the same function, and probably run faster than the Hero. I'm honestly surprised it has not sold better than the Hero, based on spec's alone.

I'm new to the Moment. About a day actually. I went from the Pre. Love the keyboard on the Moment. Not a big fan of soft keyboards. I went from the Instinct, to Blackberry, to Pre to the Moment. So far I'm liking the Moment the best and I know I've barely given it a good shake down.

I agree w/comments that it is a personal preference, but given that you talked about processor and keyboard that you will appreciate the hardware of the Moment. Software can be added to function like the Hero or look like it if you wish.

I am having the same issue. I had the pre. Switched to the Moment and now wondering if I should have switched to the Hero instead. I like the physical keyboard, but really liked the look of the hero and the widgets. I'm just a stay at home Mom who loves her phone. I text, take pictures and google things. Anyone have any advice.
