Kind of like how a new ipad will come out every year or so. Apple fans will always pick up a newer one.

So whats your take? With sooo many options coming every few month?

When Xoom gets 4G, they might start shipping xooms with 4G packed in.

Also with Tegra 3 coming as early August, what do you guys plan on doing?

I bought an iPad1 and suffered through that for a year waiting for Android tablets. Now I have a Xoom and I see it sticking around 1-2 years. I could see me buying a new one yearly if the improvement is significant, but I'd expect 2 years out of it.

I will keep my Xoom probably for 2 years unless the Xoom 2 or another tablet has significant improvements. Things I am looking for are higher resolution screen, better docking system (keyboard or dock with proper ports) and possibly better on device ports.

I plan to get a new tablet every 6 months or so. I bought the ipad 1 when it came out. I sold it for the Galaxy Tab (which rocks with gingerbread when fully unlocked and rooted). I bought the Xoom when it came out. (I quickly sold it though as I felt it was too expensive.) I now have a transformer and my Tab. I plan to sell the transformer and buy the Tab 8.9 when it comes out. I am going to keep the Tab 7 though because I use it as a phone when I'm in Europe with prepaid SIMs.

It is all about the O/S. The hardware game is a rat race that never ends. I am happy with the hardware I have.

I expect 1 1/2 years. Basically, once the hardware improves and there is actually a software reason for that hardware I will upgrade. Like my EVO handles gingerbread just fine. No reason for a EVO 3D. But my G1 was suffering badly, so I got my EVO

If the changes will be significant, I might see myself getting something fresh. If not, I will stick with Xoom.

My xoom does everything I need it to do so I can't see myself upgrading anytime over the next couple of years. Even then a new product would have to have some sort capability that I would need to have that I just can't imagine at this time.

I bought the original iPad in April of last year. I used it for almost a year, then sold it for $750 on eBay a week before Apple announced the iPad 2. I bought the Xoom, and plan to keep it for a couple years. I can't see the faster processors doing anything but decreasing battery life.

Generally as the processors are getting faster in the mobile world, they also are getting more efficient. I don't really feel like typing out the reasons for it but it has to do with things like architechure

Unless games like Diablo 3 start running on Android, I don't see a pressing need to upgrade hardware. For browsing, tablet style games, and e-reading, the current generation specs are more than adequate.

In the PC era, I'd buy a new machine when a "killer app" that had cutting edge hardware requirements came about. If developers come up with such software, I can see myself upgrading frequently. Otherwise, I'll probably upgrade when I break my tablet or it starts to crap out on its own. I figure I can get at least 2 years out of my Xoom.

One year out of my xoom and then it will be replaced unless something in the next year comes out that completely blows me away then I will buy that. However one of the reasons I was comfortable in buying the xoom early was the hardware specs were rock solid and not going to be outdated for awhile.

A quad-core Nexus Tab with a good IPS or SAMOLED+ display and Ice Cream Sandwich? Sign me up ;)

And that's why I won't buy it on contract....... Also thank God for ebay.

It would be nice if there was a poll showing the responses. :)

I plan to keep my Xoom 1.5 to 2 years. Just about the same as my phone. My 2yr contract does play a role, however even without the contract I see future software updates continually improving the product making it worth keeping around.

I don?t see replacing tablet for tablet each and every year. Now on the other hand, complimenting a 10? with a new 7? in 6 to 9 months might be what the doctor ordered?
