This makes things so much better for me personally. I use all 3 of the main voice assistants on a daily basis. Google, Siri and Cortana. Siri and Cortana commands both start "Hey..." so occasionally I do stupidly try activating Google Assistant with "Hey Google"

They need to let us activate it by saying "Computer!" -- but only in a Patrick Stewart voice.

It's what the other major voice assistants use and what Google Home has already been using. I don't see it as copying.

"Hey, Google" actually worked on my Honor 8 once. I was pretty shocked. But now it just wants me to say "okay."

I can actually say "K Google" and that works consistently which is kinda close to "Hey Google" I guess? Lol.

For sure! I imagine it only worked for me because the phone thought I had said "okay."
