hey guys i need help please

so i got my 2nd htc one m8 this year, got it from a friend. technically, the phone was from sprint and it is rooted. somehow its still in kitkat 4.4.2 and i want to flash the latest rom for the m8 since i dont know how to unroot the device. however, i am not able to access the recovery of twrp whenever i try to boot it in recovery it just boots back to hboot. so this is what im seeing in bootloader

**relocked**
security warning

hell i dont know what that is..
i could really use some help.
since i have no exp. in rooting any android device.
and also 4G isnt working.

When the device was rooted, it was essentially locked where it was. The bootloader couldn't get updated, and updated bootloaders are usually required to update the whole ROM.
