Hey everyone :-)
I've jumped off the iPhone bandwagon and decided to get myself a shiny new HTC One. I'm definitely loving this phone but the keyboard is taking some getting used too.
Overall I'm happy with the change over to android :-)

A big welcome to you! I just took a look at the One in a pop-up kiosk at my local mall--really nice looking piece of hardware. Too bad it's not on Verizon yet!

Welcome to the Android Forums and coming from iPhone you might like to read this:

Also you might like to know that you have the full use of the One Users guide downloadable to your PC or Mac for everything you need to know about how to use your new phone:

I put the thread together just for the HTC One users

Good luck and once again Welcome to our friendly and helpful forums.

Welcome to Android and the forums! What were the reason(s) you decided to switch?

My biggest suggestion: play with the phone heavily for a week to ten days. Get used to the new OS. See if there are videos on YouTube that introduce features and such. After that time frame, and you feel a need to customize your device further, you can download a launcher from Play. A launcher is a User Interface that changes the way you interact with the phone. I love Nova Launcher. With this app, you can change the grid layout in the home screens and app drawer (think desktop and start menu on a Windows PC), number of icons in the dock (space reserved typically for internet, dialer, messaging, etc) and which apps can go there, color themes, scrolling animation and speed. And these are all the free features. If you decide you don't like it, there are many other launchers out there, or you can simply uninstall, and go right back to stock.

Have fun, glad to have you here.

I have sort of used android before, briefly had an Xperia in 2010, I can't remember the name of it though. I think it was X10. I didn't really enjoy it, returned it for a iPhone 4 and used iPhone ever since. I've been looking to switch for a while mainly because I love the sharing features on Android. It's so much easier! I wanted a phone that felt premium and wasn't too big (5"+ is way too big), I don't like Samsung's plastic but Motorola's Razr HD was a serious contender but the 1080p screen chose for me :p
I just wish we had Google gift card vouchers here down under.

Welcome to AC, and back to Android! :) I would have made the same choice in your position. I should suggest, however, that you try out an alternative keyboard if you're not sure about the one that comes with HTC Sense. The one that most around here would likely recommend is SwiftKey. It has highly accurate learning/prediction behavior and allows for gesture-based typing as well.
